Jeff Verosky, Head of School

Jeff Verosky Mr. Verosky attended Texas A&M University and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Meteorology. After working for four years as a meteorologist in Houston, he found his passion was helping youth and he moved into the education field. Jeff then worked as a science and math teacher, athletic coach, department head, and athletic coordinator before earning his Master of Arts in Educational Administration and his administrative certificate from Prairie View A&M University. He went on to work as an assistant principal, district athletic and activities director, and school principal for schools in Texas, Colorado & Wyoming. Jeff then moved into the social services sector for 2 years, working as the Executive Director for the Fremont County Group Homes in Riverton and Lander, Wyoming. Jeff is excited to be back in education, and also working with and growing the online school presence in Wyoming to better serve its students and families.

Kristen Stauffer, Operations Manager

Kristen Stauffer Mrs. Stauffer graduated from the University of South Dakota with a major in Speech and a minor in English. Since then she has been an assistant manager at a bank, assistant manager of a western store, and public relations director for Paleo Park.

Joe Heywood, K-8 Principal / Academic Administrator

Dr. Heywood was raised in Los Angeles but married into a Wyoming family and has recently settled permanently amid her family in Wyoming. Dr. Heywood has been a school administrator for over ten years, worked as a principal and has two years as the compliance manager of all public charter schools at the Utah State Office of Education. He also taught secondary English and History for ten years. Dr. Heywood holds degrees in History, Educational Leadership, and Curriculum and Instruction from BYU, Northern Arizona University, and Utah State University. Dr. Heywood is excited to be working for Wyoming Virtual Academy.

CJ Jewett, Compliance Coordinator

CJ Jewett Mrs. Jewett works as the compliance coordinator and also as the FAST lead, middle school advisor, and attendance coordinator. CJ joined the K12 team in 2013. Before she joined the K12 team she was in the military and earned her BA in Business Administration.

Jennifer Merten, Testing Coordinator

Ms. Merten is a former high school and middle school Spanish teacher and has worked as a program coordinator with Big Brothers Big Sisters. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a Master’s in Bilingual and Multicultural Education (Secondary Education). Jennifer grew up in Wyoming, but has resided in Arizona and Las Vegas. Jennifer was excited to be able to return to the state of Wyoming and raise her children here.
