Community and Events

Throughout the school year, WYVA staff, students and parents gather together locally to celebrate successes, plan for the future, share tips and advice and have fun. We also provide regular information sessions, both online and in-person-where you can learn more about our school and the Stride K12 curriculum. Annual in-person events include:

  • Welcome Back to School Picnics
  • Pumpkin Path and Ice Cream Social Gatherings
  • Prom
  • Women in STEM
  • Graduation

We welcome you to learn more about the Wyoming Virtual Academy community by spending time with our community and attending an information session, where you'll get answers to all your questions.

We also provide Parent Orientation Sessions for newly enrollend families.

At WYVA we strongly encourage and support our students with social-emotional connections. All Wyoming Virtual Academy students are able to participate in their local districts for sports and activities by Wyoming State Statute.

Additionally, we have several virtual opportunities we offer throughout the school for students to connect with their peers.

Start Strong and Thrive

Our mission is to transform learning for every student we serve. Part of how we do that is by encouraging students to focus on their "why"—that spark of curiosity that connects learning with an underlying passion.

When you're enrolled in a K12-powered program, you're part of a nationwide community of Learning Coaches, teachers, staff, and students. Throughout the year, you'll find ways of connecting with this community to access national programming, engagement opportunities, and support—all aimed at helping students reach their goals.

So as you begin, ask lots of questions and take advantage of the ongoing support available to you through your school, K12, and the community of families with students at K12-powered schools. Remember, you're not alone.

LIVE WALK TO CLASS SESSIONS

Live Walk to Class sessions help new families transition to online learning through a live, interactive training, and accessible inside the Online School on your “events” schedule. The sessions are designed to help new families prepare for school and include essential start-up information and support, as well as tips and strategies for Learning Coaches across the nation. Live Walk to Class sessions provide Learning Coaches with the opportunity to connect with the larger K12 educational community of families and resources for continued support from your student’s school and K12.

Sessions are offered July through March and are moderated by seasoned Learning Coaches and enrollment champions, who are ready to help as needed.
